Goal & Purpose

Branding the Pokémon Experience

The project involved creating branding for a Pokémon event, a major franchise known for its games, trading card collectibles, merchandise, and more. The goal was to design a cohesive brand look that resonated with Pokémon's diverse audience while keeping iconic elements from the franchise. Pokémon appeals to a broad demographic, including adults, teenagers, and children, regardless of gender. The audience includes fans of video games, card games, anime, and merchandise collectors. To meet the client’s requirements, I researched deliverables like event banners, social media graphics, and merchandise designs. The final branding captured Pokémon's playful and adventurous spirit, ensuring a memorable experience for fans of all ages.

From Research to Refinement

To create the event branding, I began with research on the client, target audience, and similar events, leading to a mood board to define the overall visual direction. Early logo mockups were developed and refined, culminating in a finalized logo and drafts for both printed and digital materials. The project progressed smoothly thanks to a strong initial concept. Client feedback was positive, with minor adjustments to the sizing and spacing of information. Final revisions included optimizing font sizing on banners to ensure clarity and impact.

The Solution with Lasting Impact

The final branding delivered a vibrant and cohesive visual identity that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the event, utilizing a colour palette that resonated deeply with both the client and Pokémon enthusiasts. The client expressed complete satisfaction with the outcome, noting that there were no revisions needed. Reflecting on the process, I felt confident in my approach, as it effectively represented the event's direction while being easily recognizable to fans. One key takeaway was the importance of understanding the difference between RGB and CMYK colours for various media, which is essential for ensuring consistency across both print and digital applications.
